Have you ever seen a horse asleep?

I have, in a field, a sign that says "not dead, just sleeping" 

but what is death but one long sleep anyway?

Even mollusks have me beat at monogamy 

and swans at staying firm. 

But it is worms who will steal words away

and hollow out our apples 

a different kind of sleep, probably.
