Do You Think God is Any Good at Checkers: Meredith Starkman

April 9, 2020 Kate Belew with Meredith Starkman (New York City)

Do you think we'll use the same names?

I keep speaking about everything in terms of

death or abundance, living in excess. Tell me:

do you think god is any good at checkers?

We play bananagrams on the hardwood floor,

I drink too much in this life too.

The sun still rises through my broken window.

An uninvited guest that I still keep around.

Still is the word, now, shock of survival, or joy.
