Sun: Umarrah

April 15, 2020 Kate Belew with Umarrah (London)

My face was turned toward the sun

the way a moonflower unfurls after dark, a different sun

and the way a sunflower turns to face its friend, a summer’s un

The way that this body tilts toward blossom itself a sun.

Before us, with us, after us – the everlasting sun

a melting bal of shine and beam and ray sun.

It shines bright and never changes, Shakespeare’s sun.

I waited until it vanished, a disappearing green light sun.
