Sublime Absurdity, I like to call home: Emi, Jackie

April 13, 2020 Kate Belew With Emi, Jackie (New York City)

When it rains it rains

to soften the city, a morning brewed slowly

though I prefer my doves fast, fingers hot

a quick vehicle of strangeness and

sublime absurdity I like to call home.

A cherry blossom tree crushed an SUV last night

through this window I watched as

a child applies the personification of an object:

an arm, a pink-scathed leg, a terrible scene.

When it rains it rains

petals, when wet and pressed, bleed beautifully.
