Make Space So That Your Life Can Breathe: Meredith Starkman

May 12, 2020 Kate Belew with Meredith Starkman (New York City)

Try not to get in your own way

but if you do at least hold hands

with the quiet parts that won't speak

against whatever tyranny you're bringing.

When the words get louder

lean in to do this dance. Try not

to step on your own feet, make space

so that your life can breathe

luck beneath your doubt,

and god, I know that doubt is heavy,

that the couch is supple, the ground wet,

and if you can lift it, life will

slowly grant you entry.
