A Witnessing that I Showed Up: Lior Torenberg

April 17, 2020 Kate Belew With Lior Torenberg (North Salem, New York)

I wanted to look twice

the moon was dilated, I saw

with eyes both wide and rising

the white throb of its ascent

like a disco ball of club nighttime and

on first glance I thought how

I was a grateful one brought to

supplicate, to look once, to want

to give thanks in this way, this looking

an act of faith, a witnessing

that I showed up, and I was willing

to undergo a softening under its

gaze. Oh wide eyed one. Now I know

what it is to see and be seen in return.
