A Ladling Of: Kurt Peloquin

May 11, 2020 Kate Belew with Kurt Peloquin (New York City)

On the other side of this is

is a scar worth telling.

Deep purple meaning calls for

the shoulder you left when

you heard singing on the street.

How you rose a song in us

(though I was never a singer) and

we stood in the window palms

cleave this space between what

learned had left and mourn

I am told that there is grief.

Unmasked indoors in doors

and I draw in breath like a ladling of

great blue heron on the still water

and in pause like this, a one wing

wish to remember the urge to

catch the next wind, breaking

my silence for a solitary note.
